Sports Massage, Physical Therapy and Bodywork for the Horse Rider.

My proximity to Newmarket means I see many horse riders at my clinic.

Health, flexibility and strength is just as important for the rider as the horse.

I provide a 1 to 1 physical therapy service to horse riders to help them reduce and eliminate problems and improve health and performance. I do this through a combination of sports massage, deep tissue massage, osteopathic mobilization techniques, alignment, bodywork and stretching.

Top 10 reasons horse riders come to my clinic in Newmarket:

Improve joint range of movement. Flexibility and smooth range of movement allows the rider to alter movement and make adjustments without tension, thereby reducing incorrect messages being transmitted to the horse.

  • Improve flexibility. Increased muscular flexibility also improves joint motion and enables the rider to move more easily with the horse, without muscular restrictions of the rider.
  • Improve body alignment and posture. A more aligned body is a stronger body which improves stability and coordination.
  • Improved muscle and body recovery. Training, riding and repetitive movements fatigues the muscular system. Strong and recovered muscles prevent injury and improve performance.
  • Improved circulation and respiration.
  • Improved riding focus. Having a more aligned body, better posture, reduced stress and free from restrictions allows the rider to focus more on riding.
  • Release overtight muscles, which could lead to pain and injury.
  • Improved muscle firing. Certain muscles may not be activating, or they may be activating in an incorrect order.
  • Improve muscular balance.
  • Reduce aches and pains due to horses’ movement.
